Peer Advocate Internship Opportunities
We are happy to welcome our new interns for Fall 2008-Troy Landry, Bow Xiong and Emilie Baugnet. We are currently interviewing for student interns for Spring 2009 semester. We offer internships and independent studies through the African American Studies minor, Women's Studies minor, Career Services, and Human Services major. Shelly, Internship Advisor, will be on maternity leave from October- December 2008. Please contact Chrissie Lambie to apply for the internship.

Please join us! We are looking for peer advocates who are motivated and caring to volunteer with CAREand MenCARE. Both groups offer opportunities for students who would like to learn more about relationships and assist in the prevention of sexual assault on campus. The volunteers will be asked to help out with programs, presentations, and other activities. Most volunteers will spend an hour or two a month helping out, but you can do a lot more if you like!
As a CARE/MenCARE volunteer you will have opportunities to:
- Help prevent sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking on campus
- Become trained on the aspects of sexual assault prevention
- Learn about resources for victims of sexual assault
- Experience the rewards of helping other students on campus
CARE/MenCARE volunteers help spread the word and stand up against sexual assault and other forms of relationship violence:
- Helping with educational programs,
- Assisting with presentations,
- Staffing information tables around campus,
- Attending Take Back the Night March
CARE/MenCARE volunteers are essential members to our organization. Some spend an hour or two a month helping out, but you can do a lot more if you like!
CARE/MenCARE volunteer participation may have several benefits:
- Earn Independent Study or Service Learning course credit
- Practicum or internship opportunities
- Develop your resume
- Learn transferable skills
