Associate Director & Employee Assistance Program Director
Position Description
The Counseling Center Associate Director (AD) assists in directing the administrative and policy development and implementation endeavors of the Center and the Employee Assistance Program under the general supervision of the Director. The AD will also fulfill Staff Psychologist/Staff Counselor duties and other duties as assigned.
Clinical management responsibilities of the Associate Director:
- Develop and monitor procedural protocols for risk assessment, therapist evaluation and caseload management, crisis response, management of session limits and clinical quality assurance/documentation procedures
- Ensure coordinated response to high risk students between Center and appropriate university offices and external agencies
- Provide supervision to staff to ensure that clinical services are high quality, ethically sound and multiculturally competent
- Supervise professional victim advocate(s)’ clinical advocacy work
- Coordinate all facets of the Center’s use of psychological and career assessment instruments
- Assist the Director to develop and implement the Center’s comprehensive client satisfaction, program evaluation, and outcome assessment process
- Produce descriptive and statistical reports annually and as needed
- Assist in the supervision of office staff
- Act on behalf of the Director as assigned and in the Director’s absence.
The AD is also responsible for the administration of the Employee Assistance Program which includes:
- Ensure the ethical provision of high quality EAP services
- Supervise the provision of EAP clinical and outreach services by psychologists, counselors, and social workers on the Center staff
- Provide consultation to supervisors, department chairs, and union stewards on how to utilize the EAP most effectively when employee personal problems interfere with work
- Provide employee training and development on a broad range of topics
- Provide direct short-term assistance to employees who are experiencing personal problems
- Develop strategic direction of program in consultation with the Center Director and EAP Advisory Board
- Market the program to all employees in conjunction with EAP PR Committee
- Establish and maintain liaison with campus and community resources to maximize effectiveness of employee referrals
- Coordinate client satisfaction, program evaluation, and outcome assessment; formulate this data into reports as needed.
The AD also maintains staff psychologist/counselor duties which include:
- Individual and group counseling; crisis intervention; on-call
- Supervision of trainees
- Conduct outreach and consultation,
- Collaborate with university faculty, staff and students to promote a sophisticated understanding and comprehensive approach to racially and ethnically diverse students, as well as gender and/or GLBT issues.
