Welcome

The purpose of this website it to give you some idea of what you might expect from services at the Counseling Center. We also hope this website will provide you with helpful tools, and answers to many of your questions. This web site is not a substitute for therapy services. If you are in crisis or your questions are not answered here, please make an appointment to see a counselor.

Mission

Our mission is to offer confidential assistance to UW Oshkosh students who would like to be more effective in their academic, vocational and personal lives. This could involve examination of such areas/issues as personal values, interpersonal or family relationships, self-esteem and identity, career decision-making, motivation and academic performance. The Counseling Center staff embraces all differences within our campus community. We strive to serve and be an ally to our students, faculty and staff, by promoting an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Multi-cultural Commitment Statement

We, the Counseling Center staff, commit ourselves to an on-going learning process to be aware of and challenge our privilege in all its various forms such as white, male, heterosexual, religion, class or ability. We continually work to enhance our multicultural understanding and our ability to be effective allies to diverse communities on campus. We accept that this requires our commitment to identify, confront, and challenge our biases, values, beliefs, perceptions and actions that may enact racism, sexism, heterosexism and other cultural oppressions. We strive to be aware of and honor the life experiences and cultural identities of students, faculty and staff in all our services. The Counseling Center works with other university groups and departments to promote a safe and healthy campus climate that embraces diversity.
