Transfer Information
How do I apply for admission to UW Oshkosh College of Nursing if I am a transfer student? You are not eligible for admission to the clinical component of the nursing major until you have been admitted to UW Oshkosh. If you are not a current UW Oshkosh student, you must apply and be admitted to the University before you apply for admission to the clinical major. This process is completed through the Admissions Office. To apply for admission to the University, go to www.apply.wisconsin.edu. Submit the application and all necessary transcripts, test scores and the application fee (where applicable) to the Admissions Office. The Admissions Office will notify you of the decision to accept or deny your admission to UW Oshkosh. Upon admission to the University, you must submit the $100 enrollment deposit and the class registration form to the Admissions Office. Information on how to do so will be included with the letter of admission to the University. Transfer credits will not be posted to your record until you submit the $100 deposit. The College of Nursing cannot review your transfer credits until they are posted. You cannot be considered for admission unless this is completed. If you have questions about the $100 enrollment deposit, please call the University’s Admissions Office at (920) 424-3164. It is essential that this be completed a minimum of two weeks before the application due date. The $100 fee is refundable if requested prior to May 1. Following acceptance to UW Oshkosh, the College of Nursing application form is required to apply for admission to the clinical major if pre-requisite course work completed. All application deadlines are upheld, therefore, we are not able to consider late applications. As a transfer student, when are my transcripts due to the admissions office to guarantee consideration for admission to the clinical major?Submit transcripts no later than January 15 for January 30 application deadline and August 15 for August 30 application deadline. To maintain eligibility for admission into the professional nursing major, it is your responsibility to verify with the University's Admissions Office that your transcripts and $100 enrollment deposit have been received, and that credits from other colleges transfer appropriately.
What if my transcripts do not arrive by the deadline date?To ensure fairness to all applicants, deadline dates are enforced. If your transcripts do not arrive by the deadline date and you do not submit the $100 deposit, your application cannot be considered. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that transcripts have been received and have been processed in the admissions office. If it can be confirmed that your transcript did arrive by the deadline date, but due to unforeseen circumstances within the University’s admissions office your grades were not posted, your application will continue on for consideration. If it can be confirmed that your transcript did arrive by the deadline date but you did not submit the $100 fee to post your grades, your application cannot be considered. Do I need to forward or submit my transcripts to the College of Nursing in addition to submitting them to the admissions office? No. Transcripts are accessible to the College of Nursing once they are posted. Will my credits transfer? If I take a course at another university will it transfer to UW Oshkosh?Courses taken at UW System schools and some courses taken at Wisconsin Technical Colleges will transfer to UW Oshkosh. To see if your credits will transfer, visit www.uwsa.edu/tis.
Upon completion of any course taken at another institution, you must forward official transcripts to the University’s admissions office. The University’s Admissions Office will verify credits that are taken outside of any UW System or Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) institution. This will be done upon receipt of an official transcript from that institution that includes the course title and the earned grade. These credits cannot be posted to your record until you send an official transcript, pay the deposit of $100 and meet the deadlines. If a course is not accepted as a direct requirement for the UW Oshkosh program, you have the right to appeal that decision. All appeals must be directed to the chair of the department that houses the course in question. Your appeal should include the course title, course description, course syllabi, dates taken, a transcript with grades and your contact information. If you have any questions regarding courses that transfer prior to admission into the University contact the Admission Office at (920) 424-0202. After admission into the University contact nursing academic advisers at (920) 424-1268. DO NOT contact the Undergraduate Program Office. |
