Curriculum

Registered nurses accepted to the BSN@Home program will be eligible for up to 60 credits (30 nursing and 30 general education) upon completion of a designated credit-confirming course with a "C" or better. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. The total number of credits for completion of a baccalaureate degree at UW Oshkosh is 120.

Credit for Prior Learning

The 30 general elective credits will waive the following pre-nursing courses if they have not already been completed:

  • Biology
  • Sociology
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Speech
  • Chemistry and Biochemistry*
  • Psychology
  • Microbial Survey
  • Growth and Development

* Students having obtained their ADN in the Fall 2006 or later will be required to take chemistry and biology as part of their degree completion plan. Chem 250 and PHS (physical science) 250 are offered through UW Colleges on-line.  While they are not the only way to complete the requirement, the are an approved, on-line way to fulfill the lack of science in some ADN degrees.

Courses of college credit status will be evaluated and whenever possible, accepted as direct transfer credits; courses not holding college credit status will be designated as meeting the specific pre-nursing required courses, but only for the baccalaureate nursing degree at UW Oshkosh.

As of Spring 1998, the first completed core collaborative course is the designated credit confirming course.
