Admissions Sequence

Applicants are considered for the Accelerated nursing option by the admissions committee based upon the following:

First Round

  • Completeness and timeliness of the submitted application
  • Number of prerequisite courses completed at the time of application
  • Evaluation of UW Oshkosh transcript, including credit evaluation of all course work completed prior to application
  • GPA calculated based upon prerequisite courses
  • CNA status (CNA experience is highly desirable)
  • TEAS V score

Second Round

  • Online interview conducted via e-mail
  • Review of resume and letters of recommendation

Third Round

  • Telephone interview conducted by the Admissions Committee of select applicants.  The Admissions Committee begins the phone interview phase of the process with those applicants who have CNA work experience

Objective factors which “strengthen” an application include:

  • Experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant
  • High GPA
  • Completion of all prerequisites at time of application
  • High score on TEAS V

The admissions committee evaluates applicants’ performance on all three rounds of admission screening. A maximum of 30 qualified applicants are offered admission to each cohort of the Accelerated option. Any remaining qualified applicants are placed on a wait list.

Wait list applicants are offered admission if one or more of the first 30 decline the offer of admission. The wait list remains in effect until the start date, after which applicants on the wait list are welcome to re-apply for the next cohort.

Applicants for the May cohort are notified by the end of January. Applicants for the October cohort are notified by the end of May.

Second Life

In nursing education, practicing life-saving techniques and getting an up-close look inside an actual human body can seem unrealistic or even impossible.

But it’s not virtually impossible.
