Admission Requirements
Students applying for the Master of Science in Nursing Program must meet the following requirements.
- BSN from a NLNAC or CCNE-accredited program.
- Current Wisconsin licensure as a registered nurse.
- Application to the Office of Graduate Studies
- Three references.
- The application from the Office of Graduate Studies requests you list three references which reflect current knowledge of professional and/or academic skills. The special forms are sent directly from the Office of Graduate Studies to your listed references.
- Send or email a resume directly to the Graduate Program Office, College of Nursing.
- For CNL and Nurse Educator an acceptable undergraduate statistics course completed (with a grade of B or higher) within the past 5 years.
- The course must be at least 3 credits. If descriptive and inferential statistics are not listed in the course description but were taught, please mail a copy of the course description and a letter from the professor, indicating these topics were covered.
- If you have any questions regarding whether a statistic course meets the requirements, you may make a copy of the course description and mail it to the College of Nursing, Graduate Program Director. It will be reviewed by the director, and a response will be sent to you.
- The course does not need to be completed prior to application, however, it does need to be completed before the beginning of your first semester.
- Some Wisconsin technical college statistic courses are not acceptable.
- After your admission requirements are met, you may be invited to campus for an interview with a graduate faculty member. Students are admitted for full-time or part-time study only in the fall semester.
- Nursing practice is helpful but not required. Part-time rather than full-time study is encouraged while gaining nursing experience.
