Admission Requirements and Application Process

Admission Requirements

  • BSN from a NLNAC or CCNE-accredited program.

  • Current license as a registered nurse in state in which clinical rotations will be completed.

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.

    • Applicants with a GPA of 2.70 to 2.99 may be considered for admission under probationary status.

  • Three professional references

    • The application from the Office of Graduate Studies requests you list three references which reflect current knowledge of professional and/or academic skills.  The reference forms are sent directly from the Office of Graduate Studies to your listed references.

  • An acceptable undergraduate statistics course completed within the past 5 years.

    • The course must be at least 3 credits and include both descriptive and inferential statistics.

    • The course does not need to be completed prior to application, however it does need to be completed before the first semester.

    • A grade of B or better must be obtained in the statistics course

    • Questions regarding acceptable statistics courses can be directed to congrad@uwosh.edu.

  • Registered nurse experience is helpful, but not required.

 

 

Admission Process

Step 1:

Complete the online application and pay the $56 application fee at http://apply.wisconsin.edu.  The application is a UW System form and is sent electronically to UW Oshkosh Graduate Studies.

 

Step 2:

Official undergraduate and any graduate transcripts must be sent directly to UW Oshkosh Office of Graduate Studies.  Transcripts submitted by the applicant are not considered official.  Applicants that have either graduated from, or taken courses at, UW Oshkosh do not need to submit official transcripts (these will be accessed by the College of Nursing Graduate Office)  Transcripts from other Universities must be submitted to:

Step 3:

Submit the following items, as an email attachment, directly to the College of Nursing Graduate Program at  congrad@uwosh.edu

1.  Resume

2.  RN license.  Applications can be submitted from those who have yet to graduate from their BSN program and attain RN license.  Transcripts showing BSN degree completion and proof of RN license must be submitted prior to granting full-standing admission to the program. 

 

Step 4:

After admission materials are received and reviewed, eligible applicants may be invited via email to participate in an interview consisting of a written and oral portion.
