Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) emphasizes the highest level of education meant to prepare experts in specialized advanced nursing practiceThis degree is not a PhD (research-focused) doctorate, rather the preparation is for advanced practice.

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) has advised that as of 2015, the educational entry level for advanced practice nurses should be at the DNP level. The

DNP is the first doctorate degree to be offered at UW Oshkosh. There are both MSN to DNP and BSN to DNP options. The MSN to DNP begins in Summer 2010 and the BSN to DNP begins in 2012.

 

 

MSN to DNP

Classes will begin in summer 2010 for master's degree-holding nurses for the part-time, 28-credit MSN to DNP Program.

 

BSN to DNP

A 76-credit program, the BSN to DNP Program allows bachelor's degree-holding nurses the opportunity to earn a DNP in 3 years if full-time. The program is scheduled to begin in summer 2012.
