Blog Entry for Week Ending February 3

The first week of Software Engineering II

For this week, we were just getting started with the class.  This primarily entailed setting up VMWare with a provided Ubuntu VM on a personal computer.  This proved to be fairly straightforward, although I fought with VMWare for a few hours trying to get it to run the provided VM before I took its final suggestion of modifying my BIOS.  After that, it started fine and I just had to install and start up Plone.

The process of setting up Plone was more streamlined given the step by step guide and with classmates who could help with any slightly confusing points.

Over the next week, I'm going to be working in and getting more familiar with Plone.  Part of this includes performing the activities with chapters 5 and 6 of the Mastering Plone training guide.  This will almost certainly bring about its own set of unknown challenges given that I am completely unfamiliar with Plone and working within Ubuntu.
