Blog Entry for the Week of April 7th

Personal project wrap-up

This week's reading explained what an Electronic Health System is. We then had to compare what was in the article to what we knew about OpenMRS. While OpenMRS works great in underdeveloped countries as a free alternative to very expensive enterprise solutions, it is mostly for record keeping. The article pointed out that an EHS should be able to help make the medical staff make informed decisions and have a form of intelligence. From the demo, this feature was not apparent.

Finished up project

This was also the week that we demoed our personal project. This project was a great way for me to introduce myself to editing and adding on to code that someone else had already written. Previously in other classes, we would have to start from scratch and implement our whole solution by our self. This project allowed me to see someone's coding style and learn why they made the design decisions that they did.

For the personal project my time was spent understanding how to use the interfaces in collective.easyform. The one that we are looking at imitating is the saveDataAdapter, which uses the IAction interface. Since the personal project has been completed, I am hoping that my team and I are able to focus on the group project and start implementing our feature.
