Blog entry for week ending April 7th

Spring in OpenMRS

Since my last blog entry I read a chapter on Biomedical Informatics by Edward Shortlife and James Climino which talked about the way that  health care businesses keep track of all there data. Then I did demo on using one of these EHR systems on OpenMRS. For the lab activity this week we used Spring in OpenMRS to show data that we wanted, sort of the way that an EHR system would. We had to alter the controller and a jsp file in order to get the data that we want to show on our web page.

An obstacle that I had this week was that when I started the lab I couldn't get my server to run. So I deleted it and started over. I got that server to run fine, but when I stopped the server so that I could compile and run my updated code it did not work anymore. So I started over again and the same thing happened, I was able to run the server but when I stopped it and started it again, it no longer worked. I kept getting an error that my DB was locked. After closing out of everything and opening it again I realized that to get the server to run, I just had to close out of the terminal every time I stop it. Which wasn't a big deal since the terminal saves you last commands even when you close out of it.

For next week me and my group plan on working more on our team project since last week we didn't work on it as much as we wanted. I also plan on reading the DAO design pattern and answering the discussion question.
