Blog Entry for Week Ending April 14

DAO Object's and group project

Since my last blog entry I read the "DAO design pattern" which is basically an object that provides an abstract interface to a database, and also keeps data, logic and GUI separate from each other. In lab we practiced using the DAO design pattern and the hibernate framework by making tables in separate files that were connected to each other. One issue I had was that I couldn't get the tables to show up when I hit the h2 link, but Matthew Springer pointed out that I had to add an extra folder to the command we were using. Another issue I had was that I had to add "com.apress.hibernaterecipes.chapter1.model.Author" to the persistence.xml file, but I did not realize that until someone pointed it out to me.

This week me and my group also met to work on our group project. We ran Mr. Bob's tutorial to help us learn how to make an add on for Plone. Then we tried to figure out how to change the egg to work for our project but we were unable to figure that out. This week we are going to research some more on how to edit the egg and hopefully get that working.

Before my next blog entry me and my group plan on meeting again to work on our group project some more. I also plan on reading about the OpenMRS data model and answering the discussion question
