Blog Entry for the Week Ending April 21st

by Hilgendorf, Grady last modified Apr 21, 2017 07:52 PM
A re-cap of things that I did during this week, problems I have run into, and what I plan to accomplish before the next post. Week: April 17th - April 21st.

Class Progress

Rest & OpenMRS

This week as a learning task, using Postman and the rest framework, ran experiments on a dummy like server and then applied that to the openMRS server we made a couple weeks back. Before we could attempt to perform a query on the openMRS server, we first had to do a couple tasks first. We had to create an admin, successfully login with the admin, change the admin password, make two new users and delete one of the new users. After we finished with those steps, we had to apply the same principal to the openMRS server and get the users from it.

I didn't really have any problems, but it was slow moving when I first started to work on the dummy server. I made it to the point where I had to add users to the system but I was trying to import them using text and not a JSON object.

Team Project

Ever since we lost a teammate, who was the one who knew the most about windows, we have run into several issues. One of the issues we have had is that when we get into the Linux environment on a windows machine, we apparently don't have the permissions to make a certain change through the command line. This has set our project back a couple days and hopefully, we will be able to fix quickly. The next issue, which I think has been fixed, was our progress bar keywords. These key phrases were made for the sole purpose of the program to know when something has finished and what to start next. This was made so once we restart the machine, it will know where to pick up on the install.

Goal for Next week

Our group goal is to fix the permissions error and then once the installer works properly, we will change the GUI to fit our needs.

I am worried that this permissions error is something small to fix but we will push as much time as we can into righting it.
