The Week Ending April 7

This week has been challenging. After a successful demonstration of my individual project, I failed to finish the OpenMRS lab on Wednesday. This lab is an extension of the when from week 6. We are now adding users and extra columns and stuff. I was constantly getting a runtime error that insisted that insisted it couldn't find some properties file. Because of this, I couldn't get user data to show up at all and some of my style changes weren't showing up. Not sure what to do, I left. I booted up my computer this morning and started up the openmrs server. And lo and behold! No error and all my stuff showed up! I added another column and restarted the server, got the error, and couldn't get it to show up. So I restarted my computer. And there it was. Perfect. I don't really get it, but it seems like if I make changes, I have to restart my computer first before restarting the instance. Makes no sense since no one else had to do that. Oh well, if it works it works. I still have to add a second table of data to complete the lab. Then I can show it on Wednesday.

In other news, I started my part of the team project today. With lots more errors! I created a method to query the database for how many pages a given user has created. I then created a test for that. Got plenty of errors...on the test. At first, it was import errors. Then I wasn't using a layer properly. It moved on to content type problems. Now It something else entirely. Oh well, I'll get to it later, I need sleep. Once this one is figured out, I should be able to get through the rest of my queries pretty easily.

My goal for this week is to get the test to work so that I can continue with the rest of the project. And more reading of Plone Docs. Although those haven't been terribly helpful so far. Cooper and I are royally confused.
