2001 : Brian Paul, Class of 1990

Recipient of the third annual Free Software Foundation Award for the Advancement of Free Software from the Free Software Foundation for his ground-breaking work on the Mesa 3D Graphics Library. The award ceremony was held at the Museum of Jewish Art and History in Paris, France on the evening of 1 February 2001. The award was presented by Richard Stallman.

2000 : Ty Van Bui, Class of 1993

Recipient of the Outstanding Young Alumni of the Year award from the UW-Oshkosh Alumni Association.

Ty is a senior business consultant and group leader at Case Corporation, Racine, WI. His Application Processing Team won the Case Outstanding Achievement Award in 1999.

1996: Glenn Highland, class of 1985

Recipient of the MCI Engineering Brilliance Award for designing and implementing the Intelligent Services Network’s Call Park Server platform and patent holder (patent # 5,970,134, October 19, 1999) as chief inventor of the server’s design. 1996 : Bradford Hansen, Class of 1989

Recipient of the Outstanding Young Alumni of the Year award from the UW-Oshkosh Alumni Association.

Brad was Executive Vice-President and Co-founder of Multicircuits, Oshkosh, WI, a manufacturer of industrial and medical application printed circuit boards.

2008:  UWO Faculty Development Grant - "Captivating New Programmers: Old Dogs and New Problem-Solving Tricks." Develop learning theory-based online tools and exercises to assist beginning programmers in problem-solving and program design techniques.

2008 - 2009: UWO Student and Faculty Collaborative Research Grant - "Designing Systems that Gain Public Trust: An e-Voting Platform Prototype." Apply a secure software engineering process to the development o of an e-voting system prototype. Project with co-researcher Marshall Scorcio, computer science undergraduate student.

2005: UWO Faculty Development Grant to develop computer algorithms in pattern recognition and analysis of bacteria with mass spectrometer in the emerging field of Bioinformatics. A recent paper "Application of Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry(MALDI-TOF-MS)-Based Fingerprinting of Escherichia coli to Bacteria Source Tracking" by Thomas J. Siegrist, Phillip D. Anderson, Wing H. Huen, Gregory T. Kleinheinz, Colleen M. McDermott, Todd Sandrin has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Microbiological Methods. Interdisciplinary collaboration between Computer Science and Biology/Microbiology.

Recipient of the UW Oshkosh Student Employee of the Year Award for managing the computer network that serves Novell, Windows, Macintosh, and Linux for the Gruenhagen Conference Center and the 11 residence halls on campus.
