Excerpt from 2009 Report of our Advisory Board

The Advisory Board is a group composed of alumni and employers that provides feedback to our program so we can continuously improve. What appears below is taken directly from the bi-annual report they prepared for the department in 2009.

Small class size with dedicated professors is mentioned often when past students are surveyed. The one-on-one interaction is easily obtained versus larger institutions with larger class sizes. The faculty is very knowledgable and stays current in technology trends and instruction.

High level programming skills and languages are taught. This strength allows students to design, implement and test computer programs to solve assigned problems. A complementary strength is the instruction of problem solving techniques and concepts that enable students to design efficient algorithms and data structures to solve problems. These two areas are positively noted from interviews and survey data of alumni.

Students enjoy a rich and strong academic foundation with requirements in other studies. This diversity beyond technology-only courses enables students to become better rounded thinkers. Holistically, the computer science program satisfaction receives the highest marks.
