More About Dani (in her own words)...

I am interested in the cultural nature of our everyday communication practices. I study cultural communication ethnographically by observing the interactions of members of a particular cultural community in a particular context. I am most interested in Latino/a communication and have worked with two different non-profit organizations that assist Latino/a immigrants in making lives in the United States. I am a fluent speaker of Spanish and conduct most of my research in my second language.

I am originally from a small town in Minnesota. I spend as much time outdoors as possible running, swimming, kayaking, and skiing with my partner Nick. I listen to music constantly—my favorite musicians are from Minnesota. Nick and I have a cat named Raleigh, who likes to play fetch.

"I really appreciated the student culture in the major. Everyone was very supportive of one another and willing to take the time to share experiences and ideas."
