More About Christy (in her own words)...
My passion involves creating learning experiences that connect course content with its real-world application. This is largely accompanied through action learning projects, which engage students in collaboration with local clients to analyze and address real-world organizational challenges through students' concurrent learning and application of course content. Not only does this deepen how students know the material and build their communication skills, it also encourages lifelong learning and creates opportunities for them to develop their professional competence and confidence.
Where did this passion come from? While at Purdue University, I worked extensively in the Department of Aviation Technology where I helped develop and direct the Applied Research in the Aviation Program. Working in interdisciplinary student/faculty teams, we analyzed organizational challenges in aviation organizations to develop strategies that led to more effective, efficient, safe, and adaptable operations. My research interest continue to focus on using organizational communication to address work process, employee safety, and human factors problems.
Outside of work, I spend a lot of time at my kiddo's sporting events, playing with (chasing after) our dogs and cats, and working on my latest crafting creations. I live in Neenah with my husband, Mark, and two children, Sam & Tess.
In the end, the learners will inherit the earth and the knowers will find themselves beautifully equipped for a world that no longer exists.

If you want to build a ship, don't herd people together to gather wood, and don't assign them tasks and work, rather teach them to yearn for the endless immensity of the sea.
