Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I know if my student is graduating?
A: Your student will need to check their status on the official commencement list. There are two opportunities to do this:
- In person during Countdown to Commencement on Wednesday, March 5
- Online from March 17-21
Q: Do students have to sign up for commencement?
A: There is no sign-up process for participation in the ceremony. As long as your student has registered for spring or summer 2014 commencement and has checked his/her name on the official commencement list, he or she may participate in the ceremony.
Q: Do we need tickets for the ceremony?
A: Tickets are not required for the UW Oshkosh commencement ceremonies. Tickets are first-come, first serve in the bleachers. Should you or your guests require special seating accommodations due to health or mobility issues, please request special seating passes using our online form.
Q: Do we need parking passes?
A: No, parking is open in all University lots and ramps, and there is no charge to park on commencement day. A section of lot 13 has been designated for individuals with disabilities and mobility issues.
Note: Please also do not park in spaces reserved for people with disabilities or specific individuals (indicated by reserved signs).
Q: When should we arrive to the ceremony?
A: The doors to Kolf Sports Center open two hours prior to each ceremony. We recommend arriving 45 minutes to one hour prior to the ceremony to allow yourself time to park and find appropriate seating.
Q: Where do we go when we arrive on Saturday?
A: Commencement is held at Kolf Sports Center, 785 High Ave. Students will report to the lower level to check in (maps will be posted on the doors directing students to the appropriate rooms). Guests should make their way to the upper level where the ceremony will take place.
Q: How long will the ceremony last?
A: The ceremony will last approximately two hours. Please allow an additional 15 minutes for the recessional and making your way out of the building.
