Graduation Honors
Undergraduate students who meet honors criteria for work completed prior to the semester in which they graduate will be given honorary recognition (honor cord) at the commencement ceremony. All credits attempted at all institutions will be included in the calculations of grade point average for purposes of determining whether graduation is cum laude, magna cum laude or summa cum laude.

Honors designations on transcripts will be based on the entire academic record (including your final semester).
If you qualify for an honor cord, you will receive it before the ceremony when you check in at the registration table for your college, lower level Kolf. There is no charge for the honor cord.
If you think you will be graduating with honors, please check the graduation list.
Honors will be printed next to your name on the graduation list and in the commencement program as:
|
Cum Laude
Magna Cum Laude
Summa Cum Laude |
Honors will also be read by the announcer after your name as you cross the stage.
All graduate students are honor students. The hooding ceremony is symbolic of the significant achievement of master's graduates. Honors cords are not worn by masters candidates. However, it is acceptable for graduate students to wear the stoles of their discipline's respective honor society. Please contact your department for information regarding your eligibility to wear an honor stole.
