University commencement ceremonies are steeped in tradition. The attire worn by the graduates, faculty and administration is also symbolic, with origins in the Middle Ages.

To maintain the highest standards, the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh follows the American Council on Education's (ACE) Academic Costume Guide. Gowns purchased at University Books and More adhere to these guidelines.

The pricing for attire is as follows

Undergraduate attire (bachelor's gown, mortarboard and tassel): $24.95 plus tax

Attire may be purchased at Countdown to Commencement on March 19 (recommended) or at University Books and more between March 20 and May 14. You may also order by telephone (shipping charges apply) at (920) 424-2381. Personal checks, Titan dollars and credit cards are accepted.

Robes will be packaged and require steaming or pressing.

If you are considering wearing a cap, hood or gown that you did not purchase at University Books and More, the cap and gown must be pre-approved BEFORE THE BOOKSTORE WILL SELL THE TASSEL. To receive approval, gowns must meet ACE standards and the manufacturer (Jostens), fabric color (black) and fabric sheen (low luster) must exactly match the approved commencement attire worn by our graduates.
