Are you unsatisfied
with the grade you got in an L&S course?
Is your GPA suffering
from a course you did not put enough time into?
Students may repeat courses to improve their grade on a space available basis at the time they are scheduled to register. You don't have to wait to register for a course you wish to repeat as long as you got below a C.
Students may repeat each course only once and only if they received a grade below a C. If you choose, you may repeat a course in which you got below a C without talking to anyone and without extra paperwork.
For the full policy on repeats you can go to: New policies on www.uwosh.edu/registrar
What if I get a "C" or better and want to repeat the course?
If you want to improve your grade point by retaking a class in which you got a C or better, here are the steps:
1) Go to Dempsey 130, pick up and fill out an Appeal to Repeat Form.
2) TALK to the Chair of the department in which the class is. (Note: it is important for 2 reasons that you TALK to the department Chair,
- to deterimine if s/he will you a spot in a class that s/he might otherwise deny, and
- so the form does not sit on the Chair's Desk for any length of time)
3) Bring the signed form (and Add card) to N/E 101 for Karen Bowen's signature. If she is in her office she may sign the form immediately allowing you to take it back to Dempsey 130 so you can officially register for the class. If not, a copy of the form and your add card will be mailed to you. Again you will be responsible for getting the add card and your copy of the Appeal to Repeat form to Dempsey 130
Ahh Oh! You didn't do well AGAIN!
-
Think and
plan carefully about the next time you take this course. . . it
will be your very last chance!
-
Repeating
a second time (or a 3-peat) is possible, BUT you will need
convince Karen Bowen, and possibly the Department Chair, of how this time will be different.
-
You will need
to pick up the "Appeal to Repeat"
form in the Registration/Academic Advising Office.
- Fill in the
form and take it to Karen Bowen, Nursing/Education 101, she will
be able to tell you if the Department Chair needs to sign it.
- Note:
Remember that this is an appeal; you may have to explain to the Department
Chair "how things will be different this time". Make sure
you are ready to make a sincere effort.
Also
Note:
For 3-peats of classes from business, education or nursing, go see an
advisor in Dempsey 130 for instructions.
Final
Note: If you
want to take a class for a third time at another campus, you will need
to follow the procedure above. Keep in mind that the grade will not transfer, although course and the credit will.
