Probation in College of Letters & Science; What is it? What do I do about it? |
There are actually several types of Academic Probation. In the College of Letters and Science there is Probation 1 (Pro1) and Probation 2 (Pro2). Probation 1 means that your academic standing . . . Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) has slipped below a 2.0 for the semester. This leads to Probation
2, which is 2 consecutive semesters that your CGPA is below a 2.0.
If you get a third semester with a CGPA below a 2.0, you will be suspended. |

What to do? |
First things first, if you are put on probation, you will receive a letter from Karen Bowen, Student Academic Affairs Officer (SAAO). She will tell you that you are on probation and that to change your schedule or register for classes, you will have to see an Academic Advisor. The Academic Advisors for the College of Letters & Science are: |
Rebecca
Spurlock(Assistant
Director). . . phone #3141 . .email: . . . spurlock@uwosh.edu
Second: Repeat the courses that you did not do well in . . . as soon as possible, like this semester- go see one of the advisors listed above and change your schedule. Be vigilant about trying to get into a repeat, because of the 30-day repeat policy, this will take perseverance! Next: Consider enrolling is Study Skills, Interdisciplinary 125 and /or College Reading Strategies, Interdisciplinary 169. In fact, talk to the advisor about it! Last:
Get
help when you need it. The Counseling Center can help you with
personal problems. Career Services can assist in making career
decisions. Once again, talk to someone who can help you get back on track.Always remember: Probation leads to Suspension. And . . . don't forget to study and GO to class!! |
