![]() Levi Harris Major: Music — Recording technology and music business Year: Sophomore Hometown: Fond du Lac, Wis.
"My parents always told me to do what makes me happy. That's how I ended up at UW Oshkosh, the only UW campus to offer a recording technology and music business degree. I jumped into my major classes right away, fine-tuning my classical guitar skills (which really helps my playing with my band The Surreal Effect) and learning the operational details of music production. I've discovered the "why" behind the sound with classes in music history and music theory, and I've got a new appreciation for how music is made. UW Oshkosh is helping me build a stage for my career" |

![]() Pa Nhia Lee Major: International Studies — Asian Studies Minor: Creative Writing Year: Senior Hometown: Oshkosh, Wis. "I've come a long way since my family and I left Thailand when I was three years old. We settled in Oshkosh and have been a close-knit family ever since. But at UW Oshkosh, I keep adding new dimensions to my life, like living in Japan through UW Oshkosh's study-abroad program. Being in Japan was exciting, but it's comforting to know I can stay close to my Hmong heritage at UW Oshkosh. As a McNair Scholar this year, I worked with an anthropology professor to research interracial relationship within the Hmong community. I learned a lot about myself and my culture." |

"As a first-generation college student, I thought college would be intimidating. But when I visited UW Oshkosh, I met a family-like group of Admissions counselors and advisers willing to answer my questions and listen to me. After just a few classes, I realized I could make a difference with a career in medical research. I have my whole life ahead of me, and I plan to spend it researching and finding a cure for cancer or Alzheimer's. UW Oshkosh has helped me discover who I am and what I really love to do." |

"Some people thought I was crazy to leave Valparaiso last year to come back to Wisconsin, but I think it was the best decision I ever made. A lot of my friends from Milwaukee encouraged me to give UW Oshkosh a try — they said it was a really welcoming place, and they were right! I've never felt out of place. The move to UW Oshkosh has been great for my athletic career. I was a starter first season on the football team, and I had a chance to really hone my skills. The Oshkosh Sports Complex has a fantastic football field with state-of-the-art facilities — I was blown away when I saw them for the first time! And now that the Student Recreation and Wellness Center has opened, I have a great, new place to work out. I've also really liked my classes here. My favorite class is philosophy. My professor makes the subject interesting! He's kind of like a big kid. Classes like that really motivate me to apply myself so that I can be sure to get the most out of my education. Luckily, I've really felt supported by the University. Honestly, UW Oshkosh has exceeded my expectations." |
