Adjunct Instructor Application Process

The requirements for being a liaison are to:

Lead Time:

A high school faculty member seeking CAPP affiliation with UW Oshkosh should allow at least six months for adjunct approval and course planning.

High School Faculty Approval Process:

The CAPP Office requires the following: a recent vita, undergraduate and graduate transcripts (certifying a Graduate degree), a letter of recommendation from the high school principal, and a completed application (Links to variety of  form formats).  The applicant must have at least a Master’s Degree in a related discipline.  Adjunct approval must be given by the department chair, the department liaison, the CAPP Director, and the Dean of the College of Letters and Science.

Course Planning:

There should be at least one face-to-face planning session between the high school adjunct faculty and the University CAPP Liaison Professor prior to the start of every CAPP course.  The focus of this session should include the following: syllabus, assessment instruments and grading, pedagogy, books, course content, etc. 

Student Exposure to University Liaisons:

Some form of educational interaction between the high school students and the University Liaison Professor should occur for each CAPP course.  This could include guest lectures, problem-solving sessions, labs, demonstrations, workshops, or regular classroom teaching.  Liaison involvement in campus visits in the way of discussions, laboratory exercises, or CAPP/University classroom pairings are also suggested.

Evaluation:

At least once a semester for year-long courses or twice a semester for semester-long courses, the appointment of the high school adjunct instructor will be reviewed by the CAPP Office, the Department Chair, and the CAPP Liaison.  This will be a formal evaluation to determine whether or not to continue CAPP affiliation for the subsequent year.  A copy of the evaluation will be mailed to the adjunct from CAPP.

Workshop:

All Adjunct Instructors and Liaison Professors are expected to participate in the annual CAPP Workshop that occurs during the spring semester.
