Movie: The Orphanage
Richard Roeper hailed this film from producer Guillermo Del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth) as “a creepy, spooky little movie.” Laura returns to the long-deserted orphanage where she was raised many years ago, intending to re-open it as a refuge for sick children. As she and her husband begin to revive the building, her adopted son begins to make mysterious new friends. Then he disappears. This film, directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, was Spain’s official entry in the 2007 Academy Awards. Rated R. 110 minutes. Spain, 2007. Introduced by Dr. Elena Gonzalez-Muntaner, Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures Free with UW Oshkosh student ID; General admission is $1
