Congressman Steve Kagen visits UWO Head Start

Congressman Steve Kagen met with University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Chancellor Richard H. Wells, and Appleton Head Start staff and students to review the benefits of the program’s recent Recovery Act $220,237 grant.

The funds will help the UW Oshkosh Head Start program expand its services to 23 additional students and create five new jobs.

For 42 years, the University has served more than 600 young children and their families through the Head Start program. The program offers a free comprehensive early childhood and family development program for preschoolers and their families at seven different locations throughout the area. It is the only university-affiliated program among the 54 Head Start programs in the state and one of very few in the nation.
