EXCEL Center
Jointly funded by UW Oshkosh, the College of Education and Human Services, and the University of Wisconsin System, the EXCEL Center provides high-quality, flexible professional development opportunities to licensed teachers throughout the state of Wisconsin.
Professional development options include an add-on licensure program for out-of-field teachers or teachers on an emergency license, graduate-level courses in the teaching of earth and space science or physics, and an alternative licensure program for individuals interested in teaching mathematics or science in grades 6-12.
While the EXCEL Center focuses heavily on recruiting and preparing individuals who will strengthen the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) teaching force in Wisconsin, the center also offers programs for licensed teachers to extend their certifications in other high need areas — counseling, English as a second language (ESL), library media, reading and special education. The center's administrative programs prepare teachers for licensure as a principal, director of instruction or director of special education.
