Learn more about the Urban Experience, being held May 13-16, 2013.
The Urban Experience, offered each Spring through the College of Education and Human Services, would be a great opportunity for you. For over 10 years, Professor Lenore Wineberg has taken more than 110 College of Education and Human Services students to Milwaukee for the Urban Experience.
This hands-on program provides students with an opportunity to explore an urban school environment through the Milwaukee Public School District by:
- Shadowing classroom teachers
- Leading group classroom activities
- Working one-on-one with children from diverse ethnic backgrounds, including bilingual students
In addition to classroom activities, University students participate in several cultural activities to help them understand different social issues and gain a sense of urban life, including:
- Visiting museums
- Attending cultural events
- Eating at local ethnic restaurants
Contact Dr. Lenore Peachin-Wineberg for more information at wineberg@uwosh.edu or 424-0333.
