Apply to a Program 

To apply to a graduate program in the Department of Literacy and Language, visit apply.wisconsin.edu to access the UW System’s graduate application system. 

The UW System application will include requests for the following:

  • Original transcripts from all previous degrees.
  • A copy of your teaching license.
  • Names and contact information of 3 people who will provide a letter of reference (except for the Literacy Coaching Certificate program, which requires only 1 reference). Note that you do not submit the letters of reference yourself.
  • A brief statement of your goals for graduate studies.
  • $56 nonrefundable application fee

The UW System application will ask you to select the program you are applying to. Read the descriptions of the graduate programs on this website before choosing, then refer to the chart below.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available for students admitted to the MSE – Literacy program and taking at least 4.5 graduate credits at a time. For more information, go to financialaid.uwosh.edu/graduates

Scholarships

Several scholarships are available for graduate students in the Department of Literacy & Language who are admitted to a program and show strong teaching, scholarship, and dispositions. Information about the application process is provided annually to admitted students.
