English as a Second Language (ESL) Emphasis

Designed for licensed PK-12 teachers, the Master of Science in Education (MSE) in Teaching and Learning offers the opportunity for teachers to further develop their teaching expertise. In this master’s degree program students gain broad knowledge and insight into curriculum development and methods to enhance student learning. Special emphasis is placed on assessment and current educational issues that will strengthen instruction and reduce achievement gaps.

For additional information or academic advising, please contact the Teaching and Learning Department to schedule an appointment with the Graduate Program Coordinator.

Update for Master's Level Students

Program changes that impact the MSE in T&L core course offerings are being discussed. Instead of offering “one size fits all” courses, topic specific and certificate-based programs are being explored.

Currently, the proposed MSE-T&L Math Intervention master's program may substitute topic specific courses for the following core courses: Elem Ed 705 Curriculum Planning and Differentiating for Instruction and Elem Ed 716 Issues in PK-12 Education.

The MSE-T&L master's program in ESL/Bilingual Education may substitute Elem Ed 381 for Elem Ed 705.
