Advanced Practicum

The advanced practicum, a 2-credit field placement required of all special education majors, provides an additional opportunity for students to practice skills learned in special education methods courses prior to student teaching. Advanced practicum is taken in conjunction with Spec Ed 480/680 Research-based Instructional Strategies (available fall & spring) OR Spec Ed 413/613 Assessment and Curriculum for Children with Disabilities Ages 3-8 (available fall only).

Application for Advanced Practicum

To apply for advanced practicum, complete the application for either Spec Ed 480/680 Research-based Instructional Strategies (cross categorical students) OR Spec Ed 413/613 Assessment and Curriculum for Children with Disabilities Ages 3-8 (EC/ECSE students). Applications may be turned in when a student is eligible to register for the upcoming semester.

  • Application for Spec Ed 480/680 will be e-mailed from Special Education to students the week prior to the beginning of registration.
  • Application for Spec Ed 413/613 will be e-mailed from the Professional Education Office.
