Pre-Departure Meetings
This will be our preparation time in Oshkosh. Class activities will include an overview of our time and further details on each portion of our journey, information about cultural and societal pieces, preparation for giving back to and involvement with the places we are visiting, and final preparations.
January 13, 2013
We fed elephants at an elephant sanctuary and explored the Chinese temple, Chin Swee.
January 15, 2013
Worked with the beautiful children of the Nur Salam Children's Center, visited an orchid garden, stopped by the old governor's mansion and the king's palace, and ended our day at the Central Market.
January 16, 2013
Today we started our day with the children at the Children's Center and spent the afternoon visiting a Buddhist temple, a Hindu temple, and did some shopping in Little India.
January 17, 2013
We played with the children at Chow Kit, visited two temples, and walked around China Town.
January 21, 2013
We started our day at the children's center, visited the Islamic Arts Museum, stopped at the Merdeka Square, and ending our day shopping.
January 22, 2013
After working with the children today we stopped at the Thai Buddhist Chetawan Temple, learned about the Befrienders organization, and then visited the Crash Pad.
January 23, 2013
We spent our last day with the children and then had lunch at a Chinese Restaurant. We also visited a Buddhist temple and the Sultan Ahmed Mosque.
January 24, 2013
We listened to a lecture by Dr. Thana, stopped by the king's old palace, and visited a Sikh temple.
January 25, 2013
Our last day in Kuala Lumpur! We ate breakfast at the wet market, hiked Templar park, toured the National Malaysian Museum, and made our way back to Central Market.
