Admission Procedures

Admission in full standing to the MSE – Reading Education Program requires that the applicant meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution and taken in teacher education
  2. Undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.0 (4.0 scale)
  3. In addition to the general requirements, applicants to the Reading Program must have teacher certification or eligibility for it.

Probationary or conditional admission may be considered based upon individual merit.

If the candidate has not completed the following courses in prior work, these courses must be taken as part of the program.

  • Individuals with Learning Disabilities
  • Child or Adolescent Literature

Applicants will be contacted to arrange for interview. Three reference letters are required. Applicants must hold licensure,or have eligibility for same.
