Literacy and Language

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s Department of Literacy and Language serves both undergraduate and graduate students in teacher education in the College of Education and Human Services.

Nationally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and the only International Reading Association accredited program in Wisconsin, the department offers three program options leading to a Master of Science in Education (MSE) in Literacy, including the Online Hybrid MSE in Literacy Program.

A Graduate Achievement Program (GAP) provides professional development and career advancement opportunities for master’s degree-holding teachers .

Also offered is a Bilingual Reading Teacher Certificate.  

At the undergraduate level, the Department of Literacy and Language offers courses as requirements for initial teaching certifications as well as offering a minor in Reading.
