I received my Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. My major area of emphasis was Literacy Studies, with a minor in Qualitative Research, and my research interests include adolescent literacy, professional development, and education for social justice.

Prior to pursuing my doctorate, I was a high school English teacher. I have also worked as a reference librarian, answering research questions and providing technological support to education students and faculty.

During the summers I have served as an administrator for a high school literacy pre-college program, which aims to make college more accessible to students from underserved and underrepresented groups.
