National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Support
A series of two courses will be offered to support those teachers interested in earning their National Board certification.
1. Preparatory Course -- Spring or Summer semester prior to application year
2. Support Class — Fall semester

WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER POSSIBLE CERTIFICATION?
1. By going through the process it IMPROVES STUDENT LEARNING (Significant research supports this.)
2. It strengthens your teaching practice.
3. There are some financial incentives. The state of Wisconsin reimburses initial expenses up to $2000 which can be used to cover the cost of this graduate class.
4. Teachers who certify and remain teaching (Pk-12) in a Wisconsin public or private school are eligible to receive a nine year stipend from the state of $2500 or $5000 depending on your school population demographics.
5. After you certify you are eligible to apply to receive your 10 year Master Teacher’s License.
6. The American Council of Education recommends that you receive three credits for going through the process and three more when you certify.

Course 1: Preparatory Course
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course was designed to inform and if you wish, prepare you to pursue the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification. This course will strengthen your teaching skills and answer the WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, HOW, and WHY questions to pursuing NBPTS Certification.
COURSE INSTRUCTOR:
Trina Anderson is the instructor of this course. She has 16 years of teaching experience. In 2005 she received her masters in educational technology and in 2007 she became a National Board Certified Teacher. tjandergrad@sbcglobal.net
LOGISTICS:
Tuition will be $xxx. Bring your checkbook with you on the first day of class. Payment and registration will occur at that time. You can pay with your MasterCard but will need to do that online after you have registered for the class.
