Educational Administration (Principal License: 51)

Principal LicensureThis program is designed for students seeking to earn their Pk-12 principal (51) license. It may be completed as a certificate program or in conjunction with the MS Educational Leadership degree.

To obtain institutional endorsement for this license at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, students must take the following Educational Leadership courses (all courses are 3 credits unless otherwise noted):

714 The Influence of Curriculum

720 Supervision of Instruction

729 Dialogues in Social Justice

730 Leadership in Educational Systems

735 Legal Aspects in Education

737 The Principalship

750 Data-Driven Decision-Making in a Learning Community

755 Technology, Culture & Learning

793 Internship I (or 790 Internship II for people who have already completed an administrative internship, 2 credits)

 Additional Educational Leadership course for students desiring a Master’s Degree:
786 Applied Research in Educational Leadership (3 credits)

 

In addition to completing requisite coursework listed above, the following requirements must also be met:

1.  A Masters degree or equivalent (30 graduate credits in educational administration),

2.  Completion of an approved program leading to licensure, holding or being eligible to hold any license to teach or work as a school counselor, a school psychologist, or a school social worker at the early childhood through adolescence level, and

3.  Evidence of three years of successful full-time classroom teaching at any of the grades at the early childhood through adolescence level or work as a school counselor, a school psychologist, or a school social worker, which includes evidence of at least 540 hours of successful classroom teaching experience.
