Dr. Yoko Mogi-Hein
Senior Lecturer
Dr. Yoko Mogi-Hein is a scholar of multicultural education and has twenty years of experience in education consulting and teacher education training. She has organized various education seminars for international organizations such as Compaq, Royal Bank of Canada, Yamaha, IBM, Eli Lilly, and Merck. Prior to coming to University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, she has also supervised student interns and taught teacher education courses at higher education institutions in New York and Wisconsin for nine years.
Dr. Mogi-Hein was born in Tokyo, and first came to the United States in 1981 as an exchange student sponsored by the Peace Program in Japan. She has lived and worked in the United States, Canada, and Japan. She holds a master’s degree in education from New York University and a doctoral degree in
history of education from Columbia University in New York City.
Dr. Mogi-Hein’s research and teaching has concentrated on education in Asia and the United States. Her doctoral dissertation at Columbia University, The Rise of A Japanese Meritocracy, focused on postwar higher education reform during the American Occupation years in Japan. She has also published a numerous articles concerning education reforms in Japan and the United States.
