Educational Foundations

The mission of the Educational Foundations department at UW Oshkosh is to provide a solid core of subject content and learning experiences to prepare undergraduate and graduate students for their professional education careers as caring intellectuals.

The professional activities of the faculty center on the historical, socio-cultural, psychological, legal and philosophical ideals of democracy, equity, social mobility and liberty. Departmental offerings guide students to a solid understanding of the critical role education plays in transforming the social order to create a democratic and just society. Participation in outreach programs supporting continuous teaching improvements is essential to the department's mission. 

In addition to core undergraduate and graduate teaching courses, the Educational Foundations department offers a Global Educator Certificate Program. Combined with a Master of Science in Education in Educational Leadership degree, this certificate provides students with a broad educational field of study that explores the ethical, philosophical, historical and cultural foundations of issues and events from a global perspective.
