Basic Advising Information
Who do I see when?
Academic Advising at the Undergraduate Advising Resource Center (UARC)
UW Oshkosh's Academic Advising provides information for new, transfer and current students. The College of Education and Human Services' (COEHS) academic advisers in the UARC are available to advise all incoming first-year students and transfer students. Students continue to receive advising in UARC until they have been admitted (Admission I) to COEHS.
Advisees will return to UARC if:

They change their major
-
Are in academic trouble
Department of Special Education Advising
All Special Education students who have been granted admission to the college may meet with their Special Education faculty adviser. Students should view their STAR report to locate their faculty adviser's name.
The following advising services will be available:

Advise on major, coursework and career options related to field of study

Small group advising sessions
-
One-on-one meetings with students, after a student has availed her/himself of all of the relevant advising information on the Department of Special Education's website
Students must bring a current STAR report and planning sheet to each advising session.
Professional Education Program (Teacher Education)
All Special Education students who have been granted admission to the College of Education and Human Services may meet with the Professional Education Program director for advising if:

Seeking a course substitution/modification
-
Seeking to take courses out of sequence
-
Reconfiguring schedule due to schedule conflicts
Students must bring a current STAR report and planning sheet to each advising session.
Peer Advising Liasions
Trained peer advisers can help you read your STAR report, explore careers using WISCareers and find answers to your questions.
