Graduate Portfolio

Graduate students seeking a new or additional licensure, whose initial evaluation meeting occurred after September 1, 2008, will complete a portfolio.

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction expects that all licensed teachers are able to demonstrate competence in each of the 10 Wisconsin Teaching Standards. To demonstrate your competence for special education licensure, each section of your assessment portfolio will address one of the 10 Teaching Standards.

You will include a reflection paper for each portfolio submission (Portfolio I, II and Final Certification) of no more than 6 pages, double-spaced, including:

  1. An explanation of your understanding of each standard
  2. The dispositions you hold that support each standard
  3. A description of how the artifacts in your portfolio demonstrate competence in each of the ten standards.

For each artifact you include in your portfolio that is a course assignment, it is your responsibility to have the course instructor complete an evaluation rubric. You will include the completed instructor evaluation rubric with your assignment artifact in your portfolio. If you have added evidence that is from your classroom, it will be reviewed by the individual evaluating your portfolio.
