Planning Sheets for Graduate Students
The Special Education Department offers graduate students two licensure options with an MSE and an MSE-only option. All planning sheets are available in pdf format by clicking on the title.
Cross Categorical Special Education Licensure: Middle Childhood through Early Adolescence (grade 1-8) and/or Early Adolescence through Adolescence (grades 6-12) and the MSE in Special Education
The special education cross categorical license will certify students to teach in grades 1-8, 6-12 or 1-12 (licensing level is dependent upon student teaching placement(s)). By completing the cross categorical special education licensure, graduate students may earn up to 15 graduate credits to apply toward a 30 credit MSE.
The early childhood special education license will certify students to teach birth to age 8. By completing either the early childhood special education licensure, graduate students may earn up to 15 graduate credits to apply toward a 30 credit MSE.
The MSE only option allows students with a bachelor’s degree to pursue a master’s in special education without attaining licensure.
