Workshop Format

There are two available options for the Supervision of Student Teachers Workshops - one results in a Certificate of Training and the other in a Certificate and graduate credit. If you are interested in either option, contact Penny Buckley at supervision@uwosh.edu for information.

Training Only Option

  • For teachers who have never been trained in the supervision of student teachers

  • This is a 4 hour face-to-face meeting offered on campus.

    • Participants will earn a Certificate of Training

Training and Graduate Credit Option

  • For teachers who have never been trained in the supervision of student teachers

  • Participants must attend a Workshop class (4 hour face-to-face meeting)

  • Participants must complete the online Workshop Assignments

    • Participants will earn a Certificate of Training

    • Participants will earn one graduate credit

2015 - 2016 Workshops:

  • Monday, August 17, 2015 and Saturday, January 30, 2016

  • 9:00-1:00

  • On campus

Online Format

There are multiple options for completing the online Supervision of Student Teachers course through UW Oshkosh. The option you choose will depend on your needs and interests. Contact Penny Buckley at supervision@uwosh.edu with your name, primary email address and choice of module(s) before beginning any training option.

For teachers who have never received training in the supervision of student teachers:

  • Completion of Module #1 and Module #2 will result in a training certificate.

  • Completion of Module #1, #2 and #3 will result in a training certificate and one graduate credit (grades are assigned on a semester basis).

Module 3 – Application

 

For teachers who have previously received training in the supervision of student teachers prior to the inception of Wisconsin’s Quality Educator Initiative PI 34 in 2004 OR who have not received training but have supervised multiple student teachers in the past

  • Completion of Module #4 will result in a training certificate.

  • Completion of Module #4 and the online Workshop Assignments will result in a training certificate and one  graduate credit.

Module 4 - Refresher

 

According to PI 34:

Cooperating personnel used in the clinical programs must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Hold a Wisconsin license, or an equivalent license where the clinical program occurs, and have volunteered for assignment as a cooperating teacher or school−based supervisor.

  • Have at least 3 years of teaching experience with at least one year of teaching experience in the school or school system of current employment or have at least 3 years of pupil service or administrator experience with one year in the school or school system of current employment.

  • Have completed training in both the supervision of clinical students and in the applicable standards in subch.II.
