Welcome to the Human Services Leadership Field Placement Office
This office coordinates field placements for Human Services Leadership majors in the Department of Human Services and Educational Leadership.
This site is designed to assist campus-based students with the field placement process. Information and resources are also provided for field placement agencies and faculty.
Online students, with faculty guidance, select and arrange field placement as appropriate to their goals. Application materials and information are available on the Human Services Leadership Online Resource Center via D2L. Program information for prospective Human Service Leadership Online students is available through the Center for New Learning.
Our goal is to support the preparation of future human services leadership professionals by providing field experiences that promote personal and professional development. Placement agencies offer experiences that align with the program’s mission and philosophy, as well as with the Council for Human Services Education (CSHSE) standards.
Students complete two separate field experiences during the program following an orientation experience in the survey course, Introduction to Human Services Leadership. Internship (course HS 325) is a 120-hour experience ordinarily completed early in the program. Advanced Internship (courses HS 420, 421 and 422) is a 280-hour culminating experience typically completed near the end of the program.
Each year the office processes nearly 200 field placements for human services leadership majors. Placements are arranged fall, spring and summer semesters. Candidates apply for admission to the field experience and identify preferences from a variety of placement site options. Upon eligibility, students begin their placement the following semester.
