MSE: Curriculum and Instruction Graduate Program
Update for Master's Level students
Program changes that impact the MSE in C&I core course offerings are being discussed. Instead of offering “one size fits all” courses, topic specific and certificate-based programs are being explored.
Currently, the proposed MSE-C&I Math Intervention master's program may substitute topic specific courses for the following core courses: Elem Ed 705 Curriculum Planning and Differentiating for Instruction and Elem Ed 716 Issues in PK-12 Education.
The MSE-C&I master's program in ESL/Bilingual Education may substitute Elem Ed 381 for Elem Ed 705.
Areas of Emphasis
Reflective Practitioner Electronic Portfolio
Students complete entries for the electronic portfolio at three points during the MSE: C&I.
Students self-assess their level of confidence for the WI State Teaching Standards and the COEHS (College of Education and Human Services) conceptual model. They also set goals that may be focused on as they progress through the program.
Electronic portfolio entries should be sent to the Curriculum and Instruction office (firstname.lastname@example.org). Students will review the “candidacy-level” self-assessment at the candidacy meeting with the graduate program coordinator. The “exit level” self-assessment will be completed as part of the Elem/Sec Ed 791 seminar.
