UW Oshkosh’s alternative teacher licensure programs afford working professionals ease and flexibility in achieving a Wisconsin teaching license and a highly respected UW System degree.
The Center for Additional Teacher Licenses provides licensed teachers throughout the state of Wisconsin with high-quality, flexible professional development opportunities. The center offers an add-on licensure program, graduate-level courses in the teaching of earth and space science or physics, and a certificate in mentoring. Programs meet the needs of working professionals with courses offered online or through distance learning.
Alternative Careers in Teaching (act!) is a teacher licensure program designed specifically for working professionals with a bachelor's degree and at least five years of work experience who desire to teach secondary-level mathematics or science. A partnership between the UW Colleges and UW Oshkosh, this program is individually tailored to each participant.
Residency in Teacher Education (RITE), a partnership between UW Oshkosh’s College of Education and Human Services and CESA 6, is an “on-the-job” teacher preparation program approved through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. RITE allows qualified adults holding a bachelor’s degree to work as teachers in their area of expertise while simultaneously earning Wisconsin teaching certification.
