On July 20, 2010, we went to visit Gary Hansen, District Administrator of the Rosendale-Brandon School District, and Wayne Weber, Laconia High School principal.
We talked about how the district has noticed new special education teachers they’ve interviewed have had little actual experience working with secondary students who have cognitive disabilities. In addition, we discussed educational leadership cohorts that would include input from the district in course design
We also discussed with Gary and Wayne:
-
The Add-on Licensure program and how it can benefit the district.
-
Development of a COEHS-based principal licensure program and its impact on northeast Wisconsin.
-
A preparatory course for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards now offered by COEHS.
-
How the Wisconsin Rural Schools Alliance works to meet the needs of rural schools.
-
The college’s Hybrid Online Reading Master's program.
-
How cooperating teachers must complete a course in supervision of student teachers. The college offers this course in online, hybrid and face-to-face formats.
-
Advising Wayne of the COEHS/K12 Advisory Council’s September meeting.
