Omro Visit
Paul Amundson, District Administrator for the School District of Omro, was visited on July 19, 2010
We met with Paul Amundson, District Administrator of the School District of Omro, July 19, 2010. The District covers 99 square miles of Winnebago and Waushara Counties in rural east-central Wisconsin and serves the educational needs of approximately 1,250 K-12 students.
We asked Paul about new special education teachers from the college and how they are performing in his district. He stated that were doing a good job. We also discussed the possibility of the principal of Omro High School becoming a member of the COEHS/K12 Advisory Council.
Other things we talked about during our time together included:
-
The possibility of the college offering a program that focuses on the development of principals as instructional leaders and the potential impact of development of a COEHS-based principal licensure program on northeast Wisconsin.
-
The EXCEL Center’s Add-on Licensure program and how it can benefit teachers who have a need for additional licensure.
-
The college’s Hybrid Online Reading Master's program.
-
How cooperating teachers must complete a course in supervision of student teachers. The college offers this course in online, hybrid and face-to-face formats.
-
Space availability for meetings or cohorts which involve COEHS.
-
The availability of a preparatory course for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards now offered by COEHS.
-
How the Wisconsin Rural Schools Alliance works to meet the needs of rural schools.
